⚠️ Important notes before installation:

  • All work is carried out at your own risk.
  • The front wheels of the vehicle must be in a straight position.
  • When working on the air suspension, compressed air will escape — proceed with caution.
  • Install the box only when jack mode is activated.

Estimated time: approx. 60–90 minutes
Difficulty level: Medium

Step-by-step instructions

Step 1 – Activate jack mode

In the MMI: Vehicle → Settings & Service → Air Suspension: Wheel Change → ON

Step 2 – Positioning the Dropbox

 1. Find a suitable spot in the trunk (varies depending on vehicle equipment).

- Recommendation: behind the side trim panel or behind the spare wheel well.

2. Secure the Dropbox, e.g. with cable ties.

- IMPORTANT: The side air vents must remain unobstructed and uncovered.

Step 3 – Connect power supply

The battery is located in the trunk on the right-hand side behind the side panel.

1. Connect the red cable (+) to the positive terminal of the battery:

- Either screw it directly to the positive clamp,

- or insert it into the black fuse box at the positive terminal.

2. Connect the black cable (–) to the negative terminal of the battery.

3. The Dropbox is now ready for use.

- Test: Press the button on the remote → you should hear the valves click.

Step 4 – Connect air lines

On the C8, the valve block is not located in the trunk as it is on the C7, and is therefore not directly accessible.
The air lines enter the interior from underneath the vehicle, on the left side behind the trunk side panel.

  1. Loosen the left rear trunk side panel.
  2. Locate the colored air lines.
  3. Carefully remove the fabric wrap until the lines are exposed.
  4. Cut the air lines cleanly using a hose cutter.
  5. ⚠️ Caution: Compressed air will escape when cutting.
  6. Insert the T-connectors.
  7. Route a new air line from the T-connector to the Dropbox and connect it there.

Step 5 – Check for leaks & start-up

  1. Start the engine.
  2. Deactivate Air Suspension: Wheel Change in the MMI.
  3. Check all connections in the trunk — they must be airtight.
  4. The compressor will start, and the vehicle will return to normal ride height.
  5. The warning message on the dashboard will disappear once the ride height is restored.

Operating the Dropbox

  • Short press on the remote → valves open → vehicle lowers.
  • After a preset time, the valves close automatically.
  • Einstellbare Zeitspanne:
    • The adjustable time interval can be set on top of the Dropbox using a small Phillips screwdriver through the adjustment hole.
    • Turn clockwise → longer opening time.
    • Note: Once you start driving, the vehicle automatically raises back to normal ride height.
